The nutrients for dry eye solutions

There have been researching studies that have shown the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids. People who supplement with omega-3 have found fewer dry eye symptoms. It has been shown that omega-3 fatty acid can improve the eyes oil film that’s produced by small glands on the edge of the eyelid, referred to as the meibomian glands.

DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid) is the predominant omega-3 in the retina, this makes up 30%-40% of the fatty acids found in photoreceptors. These portions of the retina are always under stress, that’s when DHA comes in for proper retinal function. Another health benefit of Omega-3 is that it helps promote a normal inflammatory response, which in turn leads to a healthy ocular tear film and a healthy ocular surface.

This is why we included a fish oil complex containing the two beneficial omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA, which are included in the Eyedrate formula. They cannot be synthesized by the human body but acts very critical for bodily functions, this is why supplementation is very key.

Omega-3 has been shown to support and moisturize the natural tear production. There have been multiple randomized double-blind studies that show, 64 individuals were divided into two separate groups which consumed 360 mg EPA and 240 mg DHA per day,( which is the amount in Eyedrate), while other groups received a placebo.

Individuals who consume the EPA/DHA combination had a significantly better improvement in eye moisture. There was a 71% improvement compared to the 3.3% or the placebo group.

There is also another fatty acid included in this formula called Omega 7 which comes from sea buckthorn seed oil. Most of the time omega-3 get most of the attention. But omega-7 also have their benefits as well, especially when it comes to cardiovascular health and eye support.

The sea buckthorn seed oil contains palmitoleic acid and antioxidants, it has a lot more omega-7 than any typical fish source. And it is also a source of a full spectrum of additional antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that are less available in Marie fish-sourced products, this may also include vitamin C and E, which can also support your eyes health.

There have also been reports from China Agricultural University that the PACs from sea buckthorn help to protect the retina of rabbits against light-induced damage via antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-apoptotic mechanisms. These results have shown that sea buckthorn seed PACs will protect the structure of the retina significantly from any retinal damage.

And the final super nutrient in Eyedrate is called astaxanthin, this is a very unique and highly potent carotenoid and antioxidant. Out of all the carotenoids that exist today, astaxanthin is one of the only few that can cross the blood-retinal barrier, this simply means due to its unique cell membrane, astaxanthin easily enters the tissues of the eyes so it can exert its positive effects where it is needed the most. This would make it to be considered a highly effective antioxidant for your eye support as well as brain health.

When compared to other carotenoids, astaxanthin is a free radical scavenger, it is far more effective and potent. Astaxanthin has a higher antioxidant capacity than zeaxanthin, Lutein, canthaxanthin, beta carotene, and alpha-tocopherol.

Astaxanthin offers unique protection for the eye as one of the more efficient antioxidant compounds. It neutralizes the oxygen radical molecules.

If you are looking to support lubricated, healthy eyes with supportive eye health ingredients- Eyedrate is the nutritional supplement for you.
